Srinagar, July 27 (JKNN): The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, has been blocked due to a landslide at Dewal in Udhampur district.
Officials said restoration work is underway to clear the debris and reopen the highway. However, commuters have been advised to avoid travelling on the route until the road is declared safe and traffic is restored, as there is a possibility of further landslides and shooting stones in the affected area.
Authorities have also urged the public not to pay heed to rumours regarding the highway status and to rely only on official updates issued by the Traffic Police through its social media platforms and Traffic Control Units (TCUs).
