Teen Dies in Harwan Stream, Another Boy Hospitalized During Rescue Attempt

Srinagar, July 3, KNT: A 16-year-old boy lost his life, while another boy was rescued and is undergoing treatment after a drowning incident in Theed Nallah at Harwan on the outskirts of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Basit Bashir Akhoon, son of Bashir Ahmad Akhoon, a resident of Akhoon Mohalla, Sada Kadal, Srinagar.
Officials said Basit drowned while bathing in Theed Nallah. During efforts to rescue him, another boy, identified as Tawheed, also drowned in the stream.
Both were immediately retrieved from the water and shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Habak, for treatment.
Doctors at PHC Habak declared Basit Bashir Akhoon brought dead, while Tawheed was admitted for treatment and is stated to be undergoing medical care.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and further investigation is underway. [KNT]
