OPEN MANHOLE ON MAIN ROAD NEAR NIGEEN SHOARMA HUT, HAZRATBAL, POSES SERIOUS RISK TO PUBLIC

Srinagar, September 02, 2026 (JKNN): An open manhole on the main road near Shoarma Hut in Nigeen, Hazratbal, Srinagar, has reportedly remained unattended for the past 8–10 days, posing a serious threat to the safety of pedestrians, motorists and two-wheeler riders.
The uncovered manhole is located on a busy stretch of the main road and could lead to a major accident, particularly during low visibility or heavy traffic.
Pedestrians and motorists passing through the area are reportedly facing considerable risk due to the open manhole.
Residents and daily commuters have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action and cover the manhole to prevent any untoward incident.
Locals have appealed to the authorities to address the issue on priority before the unattended manhole turns into a serious accident hazard.
