Garbage Overflow Near Kashmir University Sparks Public Outrage, Pedestrians Face Hardship
By:- Aijaz Rather
Srinagar, May 20: (JKNN) Massive heaps of garbage scattered around roadside dustbins near University of Kashmir opposite the girls’ hostel have become a major cause of concern for locals, students, and commuters.

Residents said the dustbins have remained on the roadside for years, while garbage continues to overflow onto the main road, creating an unhygienic atmosphere and foul smell in the area.
Pedestrians alleged that the authorities have failed to address the issue despite repeated appeals.
Locals said stray animals and birds can often be seen feeding on the waste, worsening the mess and posing serious health risks to the public.
They added that students and passersby are suffering due to the poor sanitation conditions on one of the busy roads in Srinagar.
The residents have urged Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials and concerned authorities to immediately shift the dustbins from the roadside and ensure proper waste disposal and regular sanitation in the area.
