Joint Team of Food Safety, Police & SMC Conducts Massive Market Inspection in Srinagar Areas Ahead of Eid

Srinagar, May 19: (JKNN) In view of the upcoming Eid celebrations, a joint team comprising officials from the Food Safety Department, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) carried out a massive market inspection drive across various areas of Srinagar on Tuesday.

During the inspection, the team checked several sweet shops, bakeries, restaurants and food outlets to ensure quality, hygiene and food safety standards were being properly maintained ahead of the festive rush.
Officials said that multiple samples of sweets, bakery items and other edible products were collected from different markets for laboratory testing to verify their quality and purity.
The inspection drive was aimed at preventing the sale of substandard and adulterated food items during Eid.
The joint team also warned shopkeepers against selling expired or unhygienic food products and directed them to strictly follow food safety guidelines. Authorities stated that strict action will be taken against violators found compromising public health.
Locals appreciated the move and urged authorities to continue such drives regularly to ensure safe and hygienic food for consumers during the festive season.
