Dy CM Surinder Chowdhary, MP Mian Altaf Have Narrow Escape As Landslide Hits Jammu-Poonch Highway
Vehicles damaged, both leaders safe

Janmu, July 22 (GNS) — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chowdhary and National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmed had a narrow escape on Wednesday after separate incidents of landslides hit the Jammu-Poonch highway amid heavy rains.
Officials told GNS that the Deputy CM’s vehicle was hit by a landslide near Chingus area of the highway. While the vehicle sustained damage, Chowdhary escaped unhurt.
In another incident on the same highway, MP Mian Altaf Ahmed’s vehicle got stuck in an active landslide. Officials said the MP also escaped unhurt.
Following the incidents, men and machinery were rushed to the spot to clear debris and restore traffic.
Authorities have urged commuters to avoid non-essential travel on hilly roads in view of continuous rainfall and recurring shooting stones and landslides. (GNS)
