Teenage Girl Goes Missing After Falling Into Power Canal in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, June 28, KNT: A teenage girl went missing after she accidentally fell into a power canal at Thune in the Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, officials said.
Soon after the incident, personnel from Police Station Kangan, assisted by local residents, rushed to the spot and launched rescue efforts to trace the missing girl.
Officials said the search operation was hampered by the high water level and strong current in the canal, making it difficult for rescue teams to enter the water immediately.
An SDRF team was also rushed to the spot to assist in the operation. Officials said an intensive search would be carried out as soon as the water flow becomes manageable.
The rescue operation was continuing when reports last came in. [KNT]
