Police Intensify Security Checks Across Srinagar City Centre

Srinagar, July 25, KNT: Police on Saturday intensified security measures across Srinagar city centre by conducting extensive checking of public transport vehicles and passengers in view of the prevailing security scenario and specific intelligence inputs.
The intensified checking drive was carried out at Lal Chowk, M.A. Road and Residency Road, with police personnel inspecting buses, Sumo vehicles and other public transport operating in the area.
Officials said taxi stands and passenger vehicles were also subjected to thorough inspections as part of enhanced security arrangements aimed at maintaining public safety and preventing any untoward incident.
The checking drive forms part of routine preventive security measures being undertaken at vulnerable locations in response to intelligence inputs, officials said, adding that the exercise was conducted without causing major disruption to traffic movement.
Police have urged the public to cooperate during such security checks, stating that the measures are intended to ensure the safety and security of citizens. [KNT]
