Keran Block Tops National Delta Rankings in NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Blocks Programme
J&K’s Keran Secures First Position Across India; Marwah in Kishtwar Ranks Second in Overall Performance
Srinagar, July 23 (KNC): Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a significant milestone in the NITI Aayog Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), with Keran Block in Kupwara district securing the first position nationally in the Delta Rankings for January–March 2026.
According to an announcement shared by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the border block of Keran emerged as the top-performing Aspirational Block in the country, reflecting remarkable progress in key development indicators under the Government of India’s Aspirational Blocks Programme.
Adding to the achievement, Marwah Block in Kishtwar district secured the second position nationwide in the overall performance rankings, highlighting the strong performance of Jammu and Kashmir in the national development initiative.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir congratulated Team Kupwara for the outstanding accomplishment and praised the collective efforts of officials and stakeholders involved in achieving the milestone. The achievement has also been acknowledged by senior government functionaries, including the Lieutenant Governor’s Office and the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
The Aspirational Blocks Programme, launched by NITI Aayog, aims to accelerate development in underdeveloped blocks through focused interventions in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, financial inclusion, and basic governance.
The latest rankings underline the success of development initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir, with two blocks from the Union Territory securing the top two positions in the country’s overall performance for the January–March 2026 assessment.(KNC)
