JKPECC Urges Swift Action on Daily Wagers’ Regularization, Flags Risk of Exclusion
Srinagar, Apr 18: (JKNN) The Jammu & Kashmir Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) has called upon the Chief Engineer of KPDCL to immediately direct all subordinate offices to ensure proper verification and rectification of documents of daily wagers well before their cases are placed before the District Level Committee (DLC).
In a press statement, the Committee expressed serious concern that many genuine workers risk being excluded from the final list due to minor discrepancies and incomplete records, despite having rendered decades of dedicated service to the department. It stressed that such administrative lapses must not deprive deserving workers of their rightful claims.
JKPECC also demanded the immediate reopening of the NIC portal to facilitate registration of all daily wagers and ensure a transparent, time-bound regularization process. The Committee termed the continued delay as unjustified, stating it has prolonged uncertainty for hundreds of workers.
Highlighting ground realities, the Committee noted that most daily wagers have served for nearly two decades under hazardous and challenging conditions, playing a crucial role in maintaining essential services. “These workers have given their sweat and blood for the department and deserve regularization without further delay,” the statement read.
The Committee further urged authorities to address long-pending promotion issues by utilizing available vacancies and creating additional posts where necessary. It emphasized the need for special focus on promoting lower-grade employees, including Junior Linemen, Orderlies, and other field staff, through proper cadre restructuring to strengthen the workforce.
JKPECC warned that any negligence in document verification, delay in reopening the NIC portal, or inaction on promotions and post creation would adversely affect the regularization process. It called on the authorities to act promptly to ensure justice, transparency, and due recognition of the workforce.
