Srinagar, July 12 (GNS): Two brothers sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out in a residential house and triggered a domestic gas cylinder explosion at Cheeni Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday, officials said.
Officials told GNS that the blaze erupted inside the house, following which a gas cylinder exploded, leaving the two brothers injured.
The injured have been identified as Zeeshan Firdous, son of Firdous Ahmad Hafiz. He sustained grievous burn injuries and was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment. The second brother, Aqib Firdous, son of Firdous Ahmad Hafiz, suffered minor burn injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. A fire tender from Fire Station Mattan was also called in as reinforcement but was later recalled after the blaze was brought under control.
Officials said the fire has been completely contained and cooling operations are underway to prevent any fresh flare-up.
The cause of the fire and the subsequent gas cylinder explosion is being investigated.(GNS)
