Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment at Workplace Held at GDC Magam

Budgam, April 16: (JKNN) The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam on Friday organized an awareness programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PoSH Act) at Government Degree College (GDC) Magam.
The programme was conducted under the directions of the State Legal Services Authority, under the guidance of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Budgam, Hon’ble Mr. O.P. Bhagat, and under the supervision of Ms. Tabasum Parray, Secretary DLSA Budgam. The event was organized in collaboration with the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum (HQ Delhi, J&K UT) and the Women Development Cell of GDC Magam.
The programme was graced by Ms. Rabyia Snober Gulzar, Chairman TLSC Magam, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Tasleema Bano, Principal GDC Magam, extended full support for the successful आयोजन of the event.
The resource persons included Mr. Mudasir Ahmad Naikoo, President Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Forum (J&K UT), Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khatana, ST/SC President HRACF, Mr. Shahid Zubair, Secretary HRACF, Adv. Hilal Ahmad Malla, Panel Lawyer TLSC Magam, Advocate Manzoor Mattoo, and Advocate Sheikh Ishfaq Rasool. They delivered insightful sessions on various aspects of the PoSH Act, including prevention, prohibition, and redressal mechanisms.
The speakers highlighted the legal safeguards available to women, the role of Internal Committees, and the importance of ensuring a safe, secure, and respectful working environment.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shabana Ali, Convener, Women Development Cell, who underscored the importance of awareness regarding workplace safety and the dignity of women.
A large number of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), students, faculty members, and staff actively participated in the programme, making it interactive and informative.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Iram Aziz, Junior Assistant TLSC Magam, who acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders, including officials of TLSC Magam, collaborating organizations, faculty, and participants.
