Muddy Raw Water Halts Drinking Water Supply in Several Ganderbal Areas
Authorities Suspend Supply as Precaution; Residents Urged to Conserve Stored Water

Ganderbal, July 29 (KNC): The drinking water supply to several areas of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has been temporarily suspended after heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions caused the raw water source to become highly turbid, officials said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the affected localities include Nunner, Wayil, Babosipora, and Chapergund, where the water supply has been stopped as a precautionary measure to ensure that only safe, treated, and potable drinking water reaches consumers.
Authorities said the decision was taken in the interest of public health, as muddy raw water cannot be processed efficiently until its quality improves.
Residents of the affected areas have been advised to use available stored water carefully and avoid unnecessary wastage during the temporary disruption.
Officials further stated that continuous monitoring of the raw water source is underway, and the supply will be restored immediately after the water quality returns to normal and is declared suitable for treatment and distribution.
The department has appealed to the public for patience and cooperation, assuring that every effort is being made to resume normal water supply at the earliest. (KNC)
