Kulgam, June 26, KNT: Several motorists have alleged that fuel supplied at a petrol pump located on the Frisal-Kujar Road has caused mechanical problems in their vehicles, prompting demands for an official investigation into the quality of petrol being sold at the outlet.
The affected vehicle owners claimed that their cars developed engine-related problems, including misfiring and loss of performance, shortly after refuelling at the petrol pump. Some alleged that their vehicles broke down while travelling outside the district, forcing them to seek roadside assistance and repairs.
The motorists suspect that the fuel supplied at the outlet may be adulterated or below the prescribed quality standards. They have urged the concerned authorities to immediately collect fuel samples from the petrol pump and have them tested at an authorised laboratory to determine whether the fuel conforms to the required specifications.
The vehicle owners said that if any irregularity is established during the investigation, strict action should be taken against those responsible to safeguard consumers and prevent similar incidents in the future.
They also appealed to the Consumer Affairs Department, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and other concerned authorities to intervene without delay and ensure that only quality fuel is supplied to motorists. [KNT]
