Mohd Ashraf Mir’s Body Recovered from River Lidder After Week-Long Rescue Operation

Srinagar : 05/06/2026 (JKNN) The body of Mohd Ashraf Mir, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, who had gone missing in the River Lidder while reportedly attempting to save his young child, was recovered on Friday after an extensive rescue operation that continued for nearly a week.
Rescue teams, including personnel from various agencies and local volunteers, had been carrying out a relentless search operation despite strong river currents and difficult conditions.
After six to seven days of intensive efforts, the body was finally traced and recovered from the river.
The incident had drawn widespread attention across Kashmir, with people from different walks of life offering prayers and support to the bereaved family during the rescue operation.
Family members, relatives, and local residents expressed grief over the tragic loss. The deceased is survived by his family, who had been anxiously awaiting updates throughout the search operation.
