DIG Railways Reviews Security Preparedness in Kashmir, Lauds Police for Safe Vande Bharat Operations
Srinagar, April 7, 2026: (JKNN) Deputy Inspector General of Police, Railways, Shri Zahid Naseem Manhas conducted a comprehensive security review during his official visit to the Railway Police Kashmir Zonal Headquarters on Tuesday.
On his arrival, the DIG was accorded a formal Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Kashmir Railway Police.

A high-level security review meeting was later held to assess the operational preparedness and existing safety protocols across the railway network in the Valley.
During the meeting, Shri Manhas stressed the need for maintaining a foolproof security grid along the Kashmir Railway Corridor, especially in view of the expected rise in passenger movement during the upcoming season.
He also congratulated the officers and personnel of the Kashmir Railway Police for their exemplary role in ensuring the smooth and incident-free functioning of the prestigious Vande Bharat Express project, terming it a significant achievement for the force.
To further strengthen the security mechanism, the DIG directed officials to increase the frequency of multi-agency mock drills and ensure strict adherence to established security and contingency plans.
Earlier, SSP Railways Kashmir, Shri Wasim Qadri briefed the DIG about the present train traffic and passenger footfall, besides issues related to parcel and freight train management and other operational challenges being faced by the department.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment towards proactive vigilance and coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region’s vital railway infrastructure.
