Land Fraud Case:
Five Accused, Including Four Revenue Officials, Named in Record-Tampering Probe
Srinagar, Dec 21, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Anti-Corruption Court, Srinagar, in FIR No. 08/2021, accusing five persons of fraudulently manipulating revenue records to resell land already transferred to buyers.
Those named include former Tehsildars Nusrat Aziz and Shahbaz Bodha, former Patwaris Muhammad Yaseen Kalla and Ashiq Ali, and land broker Riyaz Ahmad Bhat. The case concerns two plots in Balhama measuring one kanal seven marlas each, along with fourteen and a half marlas, which had been lawfully mutated in favour of the complainants.
Investigators found that the accused conspired to cancel valid mutations on predated documents and illegally restored ownership to the seller, enabling resale of the same land.
Officials said documentary evidence confirms offences under cheating, forgery and corruption statutes. The chargesheet has been submitted for judicial consideration. [KNT]
