90 Hectares of Encroached Forest Land Retrieved in Kulgam, Says DFO

Kulgam, Aug 7 (KNC): The Forest Department has retrieved around 90 hectares of illegally occupied forest land in South Kashmiri’s Kulgam district during its ongoing anti-encroachment and demarcation drive.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kulgam Shama Roohi said the department had set a target of retrieving 275 hectares of encroached forest land, of which nearly 90 hectares have already been evicted.
“Our target is to retrieve 275 hectares of encroached forest land. So far, around 90 hectares have been evicted, and the anti-encroachment and demarcation drives are continuing across the district in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions,” she said.
The DFO added that the department is committed to protecting forest land from illegal occupation and urged the public to cooperate with the authorities in conserving forest resources. (KNC)
