Residents, Morning Walkers Worried Over Growing Dog Menace on Hazratbal–Kashmir University Road
Srinagar, Oct 13 (JKNN) Residents and morning walkers in the Hazratbal–Kashmir University area are facing increasing distress due to the alarming rise in the number of stray dogs on the main road.
Locals say the number has swelled into the hundreds, making morning walks and daily movement risky and uncomfortable.
According to residents, despite repeated requests to the authorities, no effective action has been taken so far. Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred when a woman was bitten by a stray dog during her morning walk, raising further concern among the community.

Locals allege that the accumulation of garbage and uncovered dustbins along the road is the primary reason behind the growing dog menace.
They have urged the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to regularly clear the waste and take immediate steps to control the stray dog population.
People have appealed to the concerned departments to act swiftly to ensure public safety and restore a sense of normalcy for those using the Hazratbal–Kashmir University route daily.
