Drainage System Fails in Awanata Bhawan Teli Mohalla for Three Decades, Residents Appeal for Urgent Action
Srinagar, Nov 8 (JKNN): The drainage system in Awanata Bhawan Teli Mohalla has remained non-functional for the last three decades, causing severe inconvenience to residents and worshippers.
Locals told JKNews Nation that despite repeated appeals, the authorities have failed to take any action to address the long-standing issue.
Residents said that the foul smell from the clogged drains has made life unbearable, especially for people visiting the nearby mosque. “Those who come to the mosque for prayers are disturbed by the unbearable stench,” a local said.
They further added that due to the failed drainage system, dirty water seeps into their homes, causing damage and cracks to their walls and floors. The road, which connects Soura SKIMS Hospital, Hazratbal Dargah Shrine, and Kashmir University, has also become difficult to commute through.
People of the area have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair and restore the drainage system, ending their decades-long suffering.
