Srinagar Police Warn Against Sharing Content Related To R.P. School Incident, Cite Minor’s Privacy
Srinagar, July 30(GNS): Srinagar Police on Thursday issued an advisory urging the public to refrain from posting, forwarding or circulating any content related to the incident at R.P. School, Srinagar, on social media and messaging platforms.
In a handout to GNS, police said they have received credible information that certain individuals are sharing material related to the case online.
Police said the victim involved in the incident is a minor, and the disclosure, publication or circulation of any information or material relating to the minor is strictly prohibited under law.
“Any person found sharing such content or otherwise violating the legal provisions relating to the privacy and protection of minors shall be liable for appropriate legal action,” the advisory stated.
Srinagar Police also appealed to citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media and to avoid forwarding unverified, misleading or sensitive content.
“The circulation of misinformation, rumours or speculative narratives not only hampers the investigation but also causes unnecessary distress to the victim and the family,” police said.
The public has been asked to cooperate and refrain from any deviation, failing which strict action will be taken under the law, reads the statement. (GNS)
