Srinagar, May 30, 2024 (JKNN) Today marks the fourth consecutive day of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) vigorous encroachment drive aimed at clearing public spaces and ensuring smoother traffic flow.

This operation has led to the removal of numerous roadside vendors from the densely populated areas of Soura and Hawal.

According to SMC officials, the initiative is designed to reclaim public roads and sidewalks from unauthorized occupations that contribute to congestion and hinder pedestrian movement.

The drive has been met with mixed reactions from the local community, with some appreciating the effort to improve traffic conditions, while others express concern about the livelihood of displaced vendors.

The encroachment drive is being meticulously carried out under the strict supervision of Mohammad Syed Sheikh, the Anti-Encroachment Officer for Zone North, and Javid Ahmad Sheikh, the team leader.

They are supported by a dedicated squad from the Anti-Encroachment Wing of SMC’s Zone North.

These officials are working diligently to ensure the operation proceeds smoothly and efficiently, adhering to the guidelines and regulations set forth by the municipal corporation.

SMC officials have indicated that this drive will continue in the coming days, extending to other parts of the city as needed to maintain the momentum of this significant civic effort. The corporation aims to restore order and accessibility in Srinagar, ultimately benefiting the larger community by reducing traffic bottlenecks and enhancing the overall urban environment.
