PM-VBRY Boosts Employment Drive; PM Modi Says Over 15 Lakh Jobs Supported, ₹2,400 Crore Incentives Released
New Delhi, June 19 (KNC): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released incentive benefits worth around ₹2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to employment generation, formal workforce expansion and social security coverage for youth across the country.
The incentive package is expected to benefit nearly 15 lakh first-time employees and employers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), marking a significant milestone in the implementation of the flagship employment-linked scheme.
According to official information, PM-VBRY has already facilitated the creation of around 15 lakh employment opportunities since its launch and aims to accelerate job creation while encouraging participation in the formal economy.
Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for an incentive of up to ₹15,000, providing financial support to young entrants joining the workforce. Employers creating additional jobs are also entitled to incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month per employee, encouraging sustained recruitment across sectors.
The government has designed the programme to strengthen formal employment, enhance employability and widen social security coverage. Special provisions have been made for the manufacturing sector, where employers can receive incentives for up to four years, while firms in other sectors can avail benefits for two years.
Launched with a financial outlay of ₹99,446 crore, the PM-VBRY seeks to generate more than 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period, including nearly 1.92 crore first-time workforce entrants. The initiative is being viewed as a major step towards employment-led economic growth and the vision of a developed India.
Government officials said the scheme is expected to play a transformative role in expanding formal employment opportunities, particularly for the youth, while ensuring that the benefits of economic growth reach workers and employers alike.(KNC)
