Anantnag, July 28: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, today reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of Anantnag town, stating that the National Conference believes in delivering tangible progress on the ground rather than indulging in hollow slogans and political rhetoric.
During a day-long tour of various areas of Anantnag town, including Hazratbal, Shirpora and Malakhnag, Shah reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental works and interacted with local residents to hear their grievances. He said that addressing public concerns remains the foremost priority of the National Conference.
Expressing concern over the persistent drainage problems and inadequate civic amenities in the town, Shah observed that previous regimes had left Anantnag in a neglected state. He alleged that several lakhs of rupees earmarked for developmental works had been misappropriated and called for a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into the matter.
Imran Shah also urged the district administration to expedite the execution of ongoing development projects and ensure that genuine public issues are addressed on a priority basis so that the people of Anantnag receive the infrastructure and civic facilities they deserve.
Commenting on the recent statement made by the President of the PDP in New Delhi, Shah said the party appears to have no remorse for the hardships endured by the people of Jammu and Kashmir during its tenure. He remarked that the people have not forgotten how ordinary citizens were treated and remain the ultimate judges of the party’s performance.
Referring to the PDP’s tenure in government, Shah said that instead of expressing regret for its failures and the suffering witnessed during that period—including the extensive use of pellet guns, injuries to thousands of youth, the loss of more than 150 lives, and the detention of political leaders and thousands of young people—the PDP leadership continues to justify those actions.
He asserted that rather than defending its past decisions, the PDP owes an unconditional apology to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Shah, the recent remarks made in New Delhi reflected an attitude of arrogance and an unwillingness to acknowledge the mistakes committed during its tenure.
