Parliament’s Monsoon Session Expected to Begin July 20, Official Approval Pending
Three-Week Session Expected to Witness Debate on Key National Issues, Important Legislative Business
New Delhi, July 01 (KNC): The Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to commence from July 20 and continue for around three weeks, with the final schedule awaiting formal approval from the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA).
Official sources said the proposed session is expected to take up several important legislative matters and discussions on key national issues. While the CCPA has not yet issued its formal recommendation, preparations are underway for convening both Houses of Parliament later this month.
The Monsoon Session assumes significance as it will be the first major parliamentary sitting after recent political developments across the country. Several crucial Bills, policy matters, and issues of public importance are expected to figure prominently during the session.
Political developments are also likely to draw attention during the session, including pending decisions regarding the recognition of separate groups sought by certain Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, the ruling alliance has further strengthened its numerical position following the swearing-in of newly elected and re-elected members.
The Union Government is expected to formally announce the dates of the Monsoon Session after the CCPA accords its approval.(KNC)
