NH-44 Connectivity Fully Restored as Flood-Damaged Ravi, Sehar Khad Bridges Reopen; Major Relief for Amarnath Yatra: Gadkari
New Delhi, June 25:(KNC)Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday announced that the flood-damaged bridges over the Ravi River and Sehar Khad near Kalibari on National Highway-44 have been successfully restored, re-establishing a crucial transport link between Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
In a post on X, Gadkari said both bridges had suffered extensive damage during last year’s flash floods, severely disrupting connectivity along the strategically important NH-44 corridor. Recognising the significance of the route, the restoration work was taken up on a priority basis and completed within the stipulated timeline.
He said the reopening of the bridges will ensure seamless movement of passengers and freight, significantly improving connectivity between Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. The restored infrastructure is also expected to provide major relief to pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra by facilitating smoother and safer travel.
Gadkari further said that the restoration of the bridges would strengthen regional mobility, boost economic activity, and reinforce the Centre’s commitment to developing robust transport infrastructure across the country.
The successful completion of the restoration works marks an important milestone in maintaining uninterrupted connectivity on one of North India’s most vital national highway corridors.(KNC)
