NC’s Imran Shah Revives 20-Year-Old Irrigation Canal in Anantnag, Slams PDP Over ‘Years of Neglect’
NC’s Imran Shah Leads Revival of 20-Year-Old Irrigation Canal; Calls PDP Regime the “Darkest Era” of Governance, Demands Accountability for Neglect, Corruption and Mismanagement
Anantnag, June 24: (JKNN) Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, on Tuesday said that the National Conference is committed to addressing public issues and fulfilling its promises through concrete action rather than mere rhetoric. Addressing a gathering during the excavation and desilting of the long-defunct Navnod Irrigation Canal at Gori Mohalla, Teilwani, Anantnag, Shah described the project as a significant achievement for the local population dependent on horticulture and agriculture.
Highlighting that the canal had remained non-functional for nearly two decades, Shah accused the PDP of neglecting the area despite enjoying continuous political representation in Anantnag since 2002. He said the absence of irrigation facilities had severely affected local farmers and orchardists.
Launching a sharp attack on the PDP, Shah alleged that the party pursued a partisan and anti-people agenda, treating the region merely as a vote bank while prioritizing the interests of relatives and close associates. He asserted that the National Conference remains focused on public welfare and development, unlike those who, according to him, were driven by personal and political interests.
“The revival of this long-pending irrigation canal reflects our commitment to addressing genuine public grievances. We believe in delivering results on the ground rather than making hollow promises,” Shah said.
Shah further criticized the PDP for engaging in what he described as “political theatrics” and questioned the party’s performance while in power. He alleged that the PDP’s tenure was marked by nepotism, corruption, and policies that undermined the future of the youth.
Calling for accountability, Shah demanded a comprehensive investigation into alleged recruitment irregularities and corruption scandals during the PDP’s tenure, including controversies related to bank recruitments, SPO appointments, and the Khadi and Village Industries sector. He maintained that those responsible for misusing public institutions must be held accountable and that the truth should be brought before the people.
Shah reiterated that the National Conference would continue to work for the welfare of the people and ensure that developmental projects and public grievances receive the attention they deserve.
