NC Leader Imran Shah Raises Farmers’ Issues, Slams Ruhullah Attempts to Derail Statehood Movement
Anantnag, July 16: Senior Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, on Thursday reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to addressing public grievances and ensuring equitable development across the district.
Addressing a meeting of party workers at Magraypora, Shah expressed serious concern over the alleged partisan practices in the distribution of irrigation water in the Magraypora and Nunwani areas. He urged the administration to take immediate cognizance of the matter and initiate prompt action against officials of the Irrigation Department allegedly causing hardships to local farmers.
Imran Shah alleged that certain officials were favouring influential individuals in the allocation of irrigation water and indulging in corrupt practices, resulting in severe inconvenience to genuine farmers who depend on irrigation for their livelihoods.
Describing the alleged conduct of the concerned officials as “totally unacceptable,” Shah called for a fair and impartial inquiry into the matter and demanded strict action against anyone found guilty. He stressed that the administration must ensure a transparent, accountable, and equitable distribution of irrigation water while addressing the grievances of the affected farmers without further delay.
Reaffirming the National Conference’s people-centric approach, Shah said the party remains steadfast in safeguarding the interests of the farming community and will continue to raise public issues at every appropriate forum to ensure justice, transparency, and balanced development across the region.
Commenting on the recent visit of MP Aga Ruhullah to Srinagar to offer condolences and his subsequent statement, Shah alleged that Ruhullah was attempting to undermine the National Conference’s proposed protest in New Delhi seeking the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Imran Shah urged Ruhullah that if he genuinely considers himself a well-wisher of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he should support the cause by joining the protest instead of, as Shah alleged, misleading the public. He stated that Ruhullah was elected to Parliament by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly with the support of the National Conference, to represent their aspirations.
He further said that, instead of acting at the behest of those who, according to him, betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir through false promises on the restoration of statehood and continued to weaken the elected government under a system of dual governance, Ruhullah should stand with the people in their democratic struggle.
Imran Shah asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the National Conference cadre remain united and determined to defeat what he termed such “nefarious designs.” He reaffirmed that the National Conference will continue its peaceful and democratic struggle for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, dignity, and constitutional rights.
