Mehbooba Mufti Apologizes For Remarks At Jantar Mantar, Says “It Was A Slip Of Tongue”
Srinagar, July 28 (GNS): PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday expressed regret over her remarks made during a gathering at Jantar Mantar, calling it an inadvertent slip of tongue.
Addressing media persons, Mehbooba said her statement was misinterpreted and she had intended to convey something else.
“I had to say ‘Bahana Banta Hai’ instead I said ‘Banta Hai’ at Jantar Mantar. I apologize for it,” she said.
The clarification came a day after National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah criticized Mehbooba for her comment and publicly demanded that she apologize for the remarks.
Mehbooba, however, said her intention was not to hurt anyone and reiterated her commitment to speaking responsibly in public forums. (GNS)
