Legislator Alleges Illegal Mining, Levels Corruption Charge on Police, Civil Administration
Doda, July 30, KNT: Doda West MLA Mehraj Malik on Thursday alleged that illegal mining was being carried out on the Doda–Ghat road during the intervening night, accusing sections of the administration and police of facilitating the activity.
In a post on social media, the legislator claimed that illegal mining was taking place around 1 a.m. on the road and alleged that officials of the administration and police were involved in corruption.
“Laws are only for the poor,” the MLA wrote, while questioning the authorities over the alleged illegal extraction of minerals.
The allegations have drawn attention to the issue of illegal mining in the region, with the MLA seeking accountability from the concerned authorities. [KNT]
