Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has strongly refuted claims that he has migrated to the UK, claiming that he could never think about leaving Pakistan.
Recent reports have emerged suggesting that Sarfaraz, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has migrated to the United Kingdom.
These claims were fuelled by concerns over his future in the national team, following a series of underwhelming performances, including a poor showing in a Test match against Australia where he scored only seven runs.
He would then make way for Mohammad Rizwan in the side for the remaining two Test matches during the tour of Australia.
Sarfaraz had made a return to the Test side in December 2022 during the series against New Zealand after a hiatus of close to four years.
Sad to see such news: Sarfaraz Ahmed slams reports of UK move
Despite the recent reports, Sarfaraz has now strongly refuted the rumors. In an interview with Samaa Digital, the former skipper stated that he has no intention of leaving Pakistan and urged the media to verify such news before publishing.
“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Sarfaraz Ahmed emphasised during the interview.
“Sad to see such news.”
Quetta Gladiators manager Azam Khan also refuted the stories surrounding Sarfaraz’ move to the UK. Khan said that the former Pakistan skipper had gone to see his son, who is studying in England, with his Family.
The 36-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has had a notable career, leading Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. While there is speculation about his cricketing future, Sarfaraz has expressed a desire to continue playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The wicketkeeper-batter is expected to be back for the side in the upcoming season of the PSL as they look to claim the title for the first time since winning it in 2019.IT
