Ganderbal, July 30:(KNC)Two schoolgirls were injured after a speeding Alto car allegedly hit them on the Srinagar–Leh National Highway in the Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday. The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, with the footage now circulating on social media.
Officials told KNC that the accident occurred when the two students were walking along the roadside and were struck by the speeding vehicle. Locals and passersby immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured girls to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan for medical treatment.
The condition of the injured students was not immediately known.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident. The vehicle involved has been identified as an Alto car, and further legal proceedings are being carried out.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the accident has surfaced, showing the moment the speeding vehicle hit the two schoolgirls. The video has sparked concern among local residents, who have called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and measures to curb overspeeding on the busy highway.
