CBI Arrests Punjab National Bank Manager in Rs 30,000 Bribery Trap in Agra
Accused Allegedly Demanded ₹52,000 to Clear 19 Solar Panel Loan Files; Investigation Underway
New Delhi/Agra, June 27 (KNC): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Manager of Punjab National Bank’s Bhadrauli Branch in Barhan, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a bribery case involving the alleged demand and acceptance of illegal gratification for processing loan files.
According to an official CBI statement, the agency registered the case on June 25, 2026, following a complaint filed by an employee of a private company. The complainant alleged that the bank manager demanded a bribe of ₹7,000 per loan file for processing and clearing around 19 solar panel loan applications.
The CBI said the accused allegedly agreed, after negotiations, to accept a total bribe of ₹52,000 for clearing the 19 loan files, despite the loans already having been duly sanctioned by the bank.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused manager red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹30,000 as part payment of the agreed bribe from the complainant.
The accused was arrested on June 25, 2026, and was scheduled to be produced before the competent court in Ghaziabad on June 26, 2026.
The CBI said further investigation into the case is in progress.(KNC)
