Most Wanted Lady Drug Peddler Arrested with Heroin-Like Substance in Anantnag
Anantnag, May 5 (KNC): Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Tuesday achieved a significant success by apprehending a notorious and most-wanted lady drug peddler along with contraband substance.
According to police, a naka party from Police Post Dialgam had established a routine checking point at Laalan Bypass. During checking, a woman approaching from Bondialgam towards Laalan raised suspicion after attempting to flee on noticing the police presence. The alert naka team acted promptly and tactfully, successfully apprehending her on the spot.
During her personal search, a contraband substance, apparently heroin-like in nature, was recovered from her possession. Upon questioning, she was identified as Shugafta Akhter, daughter of Mohd Hussain Dar, a resident of Dangerpora, Anantnag.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 130/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at the concerned police station, and further investigation has been taken up.
Officials said the arrested woman is a notorious drug peddler already involved in multiple NDPS cases, and her arrest is being seen as a major breakthrough in the ongoing drive to curb the drug menace in the district.(KNC)
