Anantnag Police Detain Notorious Drug Peddler Under PIT-NDPS Act
Warrant Issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Executed; Accused Lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah
ANANTNAG, AUGUST 21:(KNC)In a major action against the illegal drug trade, Anantnag Police has detained a suspected notorious drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The action was taken against Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, son of Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Ganie, a resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, as part of the ongoing campaign by police to curb drug trafficking and prevent the spread of narcotic substances in the district.
According to police, the PIT-NDPS warrant was issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, and was executed by Anantnag Police in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
Following the execution of the warrant, the individual was apprehended and subsequently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah under the provisions of the preventive detention law.
Police said the action forms part of its continued efforts to identify and dismantle networks involved in the illicit trafficking and distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict and decisive legal action against drug traffickers and repeat offenders, while intensifying its efforts to protect the younger generation and society from the menace of drug abuse.
The police further maintained that its campaign against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities will continue with greater intensity in the days ahead.(KNC)
