After Release from Detention, Imran Shah Says NC Will Continue Peaceful Fight for Restoration of Articles 370, 35A and Statehood
Anantnag, August 05: (JKNN) Terming August 5 as one of the darkest days in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, Senior National Conference leader and Vice District President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, said that the constitutional rights and special status guaranteed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir were, in his view, unconstitutionally and unlawfully abrogated to serve the BJP’s mere political agenda.
Speaking to the media following his conditional release from police detention, Shah reaffirmed that the National Conference remains unwavering in its commitment to the democratic and constitutional struggle for the restoration of Article 370, Article 35A, and the dignity, identity, and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that no pressure, intimidation, or coercive measures would deter the party from pursuing its political objectives.
Shah further stated that the party cadre stands united and resolute, prepared to make every democratic and peaceful sacrifice in pursuit of the aspirations and rights of the people.
Earlier in the day, Shah was taken into preventive custody from his residence and lodged at Police Station Dialgam ahead of a proposed peaceful protest to mark August 5, which the National Conference observes as a Black Day.
