NH-44 Remains Closed Due to Landslides, Shooting Stones; Authorities Advise Against Travel
Srinagar, July 23 (JKNN): The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) continues to remain closed for vehicular movement due to landslides and shooting stones reported at multiple locations, officials said.
The Doda–Kishtwar Road has also been closed following continuous heavy rainfall, which has affected road conditions across the region.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road and the Mughal Road remain open for traffic.
Authorities said heavy rainfall is continuing along all major routes, increasing the risk of landslides, shooting stones, and road blockages. Commuters have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve and the roads are declared safe for movement.
Travellers are urged to check the latest road status through the Traffic Police’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Facebook page, or Traffic Control Units (TCUs) before undertaking any journey.
