2nd National Lok Adalat Disposes of 2,435 Cases in Reasi, Settles Over ₹2.83 Crore
Reasi, May 9 (KNC): The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi on Saturday successfully organised the 2nd National Lok Adalat of the year 2026 under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority.
The Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Reasi and Principal District & Sessions Judge Reasi, Mr. Khalil Choudhary, with guidance from Secretary DLSA Reasi, Ms. Pooja Gupta. The event was inaugurated in the presence of judicial officers, members of the Bar Association, legal aid defence counsels, court staff, para legal volunteers and litigants.
According to the official press release, a total of 15 benches were constituted across the district to hear and settle different categories of cases including matrimonial disputes, civil cases, criminal compoundable matters, cheque bounce cases under the NI Act, bank recovery matters, MACT cases, consumer disputes and pre-litigation commercial cases.
During the Lok Adalat, 3,152 cases were taken up, out of which 2,435 cases were amicably disposed of, leading to a settlement amount of ₹2,83,58,393.
The DLSA Reasi stated that the National Lok Adalat aimed to provide speedy and amicable justice to litigants while reducing the burden of pending cases in courts. The authority described the event as a major success in promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the district.(KNC)
