Srinagar, April 29: (JKNN) In a major boost to Kashmir’s rail connectivity, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will flag off the extended Srinagar-Jammu Vande Bharat Express today.
The high-speed train has been augmented from 8 to 20 coaches to meet rising popularity and increasing passenger demand.
The Railway Minister will also inspect the iconic Anji Khad Bridge and Chenab Bridge on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) corridor during his visit.
Regular services of the extended Srinagar-Jammu Vande Bharat are set to commence from May 2. The uninterrupted high-speed service is expected to significantly benefit pilgrims, tourists, traders, and locals by cutting travel time and improving all-weather connectivity between Jammu and the Valley.
The move comes as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiatives by the Ministry of Railways to strengthen infrastructure and promote tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
