Drinking Water Supply to Remain Suspended for 2 Days in Ganderbal, Rural Srinagar

Srinagar: 24/04/2026 (JKNN) Jal Shakti (PHE) Department has announced a 48-hour suspension of drinking water supply in Ganderbal district and several rural areas of Srinagar due to essential repair works.
As per an official notice issued by the Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal/Srinagar, the shutdown is being undertaken to facilitate Phase-II repair of the Sindh Power (SP) Canal, scheduled from April 25 to April 26, 2026 by CMD Ganderbal.
Due to these works, raw water supply to all dependent water treatment plants will be halted, resulting in disruption of potable water supply across multiple areas.
Shutdown Schedule:
Start: 6:00 AM, Saturday (April 25)
End: 6:00 AM, Monday (April 27)
Total Duration: 48 Hours
Areas Likely to be Affected:
Large parts of Ganderbal, including Tulmulla, Manigam, Wayil, Nunner, Kachan, Hakimgund, and adjoining areas, will face water shortage.
Similarly, rural belts of Srinagar such as Zakura, Gulab Bagh, Shuhama, Chatterhama, Palpora, Tangpora, and nearby localities will also remain affected.
Advisory for Residents:
Authorities have urged people to store adequate water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the shutdown.
