48-Hour Water Supply Disruption in Srinagar from April 21 due to urgent repair works
Srinagar, April 17: (JKNN) The Water Works Division Srinagar has issued a public notice informing residents about a temporary disruption in potable water supply across major parts of the city due to urgent repair works.
According to the notice, the repair of the Sindh Power Canal (Phase II), scheduled to be carried out by CMD Ganderbal on April 21 and 22, 2026, will affect the raw water supply to Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil.
As a result, water supply in several areas of Srinagar and adjoining localities is likely to remain affected for approximately 48 hours, from 6:00 AM on Tuesday (April 21) to 6:00 AM on Thursday (April 23).
The affected areas include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Zoonimar, Zadibal, Hawal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Nigeen, Rainawari (parts), Khanyar, Habba Kadal, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Eidgah, Batmaloo (parts), Qamarwari and several adjoining localities.
Authorities have advised the general public to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during the disruption period. The department has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.
