Srinagar, Mar 5 (JKNS): Authorities have decided to continue strict restrictions across all districts of Kashmir on Friday as a precautionary measure.
Officials within the security establishment informed news agency JKNS that the decision was taken to maintain law and order and prevent any escalation of tensions, particularly after demonstrations emerged in parts of the region earlier this week.
“Security forces will maintain heightened deployment across major towns, with strong restrictions on movement in sensitive areas on Friday,” officials within the security grid said.
“Any further decision on easing restrictions will be only taken after Friday prayers,” a senior official added.
Authorities also said that internet services will remain limited to 2G speeds across the Valley, while calling services on prepaid mobile connections will continue to remain suspended.
Officials said the measures are temporary and aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing the spread of misinformation or mobilization that could lead to unrest.
“The situation is under close monitoring. Further decisions will be taken depending on the ground situation,” a senior official said.
Despite sporadic protests earlier, authorities stated that the overall situation across Kashmir has largely remained under control. —
Earlier, authorities on Sunday evening announced restrictions after Kashmir valley reported protests following protests reported the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. (JKNS)
