Police crack Pampore theft case
Two non-local accused arrested, stolen property recovered
Awantipora, Jan 10, KNT: Police in Awantipora have successfully solved a theft case reported from the Pampore area, arresting two accused persons and recovering part of the stolen property, officials said.
According to police, Police Station Pampore received a written complaint from Mohammad Maqbool Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani, a local of Drangbal, stating that during the intervening night of January 6 and 7, unknown miscreants forcibly entered his residential house and shop and decamped with copper items, gold ornaments, and cash.
Following the complaint, FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore, and investigation was taken up by the police.
During the course of investigation, a police team led by the Station House Officer of Police Station Pampore, Inspector Khalid Fayaz, under the overall supervision of SDPO Pampore R P Singh, adopted modern investigative methods. Officials said detailed analysis of CCTV footage collected from multiple locations proved crucial in identifying the persons involved in the crime.
Based on the evidence gathered, two accused were apprehended. They have been identified as Mohammad Sahil Sheikh, son of Sahib Ali Sheikh, a resident of Narela Gaon, Delhi, presently staying at Harnag in Anantnag, and Zahoor Ahmad Khan, son of Shorabh Ahmad Khan, a resident of Madanpur Khadder, Delhi, also presently staying at Harnag in Anantnag.
Police said both accused have been arrested and are currently in police custody. During questioning, part of the stolen property has been recovered from their possession.
Police said further investigation is underway to recover the remaining stolen items and to ascertain whether the arrested persons are involved in other similar theft cases in the area.
