Drainage Mess in Srinagar Outskirt Area Leaves Locals Aggrieved For Three Decades
Srinagar, Nov 25, KNT: Locals of Awanata Bhawan Teli Mohalla in Srinagar have expressed deep resentment over the non-functional drainage system in the area, saying the issue has persisted for nearly thirty years without any intervention from the authorities.
Locals said that despite repeated representations, no department has addressed the problem, leaving inhabitants to suffer foul smell, waterlogging and structural damage to their homes. They said the stench from the choked drains makes it extremely difficult for worshippers visiting the nearby mosque.
Locals said contaminated water frequently seeps into houses, causing cracks in walls and floors. They added that the road passing through the locality, which connects Soura SKIMS, Hazratbal Shrine and the University of Kashmir, has become risky to travel due to the accumulated drainage waste.
Urging the administration to act immediately, locals said the decades-long neglect has pushed the area into a state of constant inconvenience and health concerns. [KNT]
