Wild Animal Attack Kills Seven Livestock in Kupwara’s Kandi Area
Kupwara, Oct 28, KNT: A wild animal attack in the Jadda area of Kandi in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has left seven livestock dead, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when a wild animal, believed to have strayed from nearby forests, entered the livestock shed of farmer Ilyas Ahmad of Kandi Karnah. The attack resulted in the deaths of six sheep and one goat, causing a loss to the farmer.
A veterinarian from the Sheep Husbandry Department visited the site and verified the deaths after examining the carcasses. Officials said the compensation process would be initiated under departmental procedures.
Meanwhile, the affected farmer and locals have urged the Wildlife Department to take immediate steps to prevent such attacks in the future and ensure the safety of livestock in the area. [KNT]
