Srinagar, Mar 27 (KNC): A tragic avalanche incident at Zojila Pass on Friday left seven persons dead and five others injured after a passenger vehicle was struck by heavy snow and debris, officials said.
A senior official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that the vehicle came under a massive avalanche, resulting in multiple casualties at the spot while several others sustained injuries. The injured were immediately rescued and shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Rescue teams, including local authorities and emergency responders, rushed to the site soon after the incident and launched a large-scale operation to retrieve victims and clear the area.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh expressed grief over the incident, stating, “Saddened to learn about the tragic death of 7 persons and injuries to 5 after avalanche hit the vehicle at Zojila Pass. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. All required assistance being provided to the injured.” (KNC)
