The Kashmir University Joggers Conquer Mamneth Top – A Trekking Adventure to 7,725 Feet on sunday
Srinagar, 24/02/2025 (JKNN) Kashmir: A group of dedicated trekkers from the renowned The University Joggers recently embarked on an exhilarating journey to Mamneth Top, a scenic peak standing at 7,725 feet.

The adventure began at dawn as the team departed from Kashmir University, traveling by car to Dara Harwan before setting off on foot towards their destination.
The trek, a combination of scenic beauty and physical endurance, proved to be a memorable experience for all involved.
An Enthusiastic Team
Among the trekkers were notable personalities including Dr. Mumtaz, Dr. Altaf, Dr. Fayaz, Ishtiyaq Ahmad ,Mr Sajid and Aijaz Rather, owner of JKNews Nation. With determination and camaraderie, the group commenced their trek at 7 AM, fully prepared for the challenges ahead. The excitement and passion for trekking were evident as they took their first steps towards the summit, discussing past treks and sharing words of encouragement.
The Journey to the Summit
The trek was divided into three major segments, each offering a unique blend of natural beauty and physical challenge:
1. Srinagar to Dara Harwan
Altitude: 5,880 ft
Distance: 20 km
Duration: 50 minutes

The journey to Dara Harwan was relatively easy, allowing the trekkers to enjoy the early morning serenity. The road, surrounded by trees and fresh mountain air, set the perfect tone for the adventure ahead. Upon reaching Dara Harwan, the team took a quick refreshment break, relishing tea, bread, dates, and water to fuel their ascent.
2. Dara Harwan to Dara Top
Altitude: 6,216 ft
Distance: 280 meters
Duration: 30 minutes

This phase of the trek presented a moderate challenge, requiring a steady climb through rugged terrain. The team, motivated by their goal, took careful steps while appreciating the panoramic views. The ascent to Dara Top was rewarding, with scenic landscapes providing an ideal backdrop for a brief pause before moving forward.
3. Dara Top to Mamneth Top
Altitude: 7,725 ft
Distance: 1,750 meters
Duration: 2.5 hours

This final stretch was the most demanding, pushing the trekkers to their limits. The path was steep, requiring both stamina and careful navigation. The team supported each other, sharing words of encouragement and laughter to lighten the load. As they reached the peak, a breathtaking sight awaited them – a fresh blanket of snow covering the summit and even traces of bear footprints. The breathtaking panoramic view of Srinagar from the top was a moment of triumph and joy for the team.
Challenges and Triumphs
Following a well-earned lunch break and a round of photography, the team began their descent. The melting snow turned the trail muddy and slippery, making the return journey quite challenging. However, with careful navigation and teamwork, they safely made their way back to the base by 3 PM.
Along the way, they encountered several shepherds and villagers carrying grass for their livestock. Engaging in friendly conversations, the trekkers gained insight into the local lifestyle. Over a cup of warm tea, they exchanged stories and shared laughter, adding a personal touch to their adventure.
A Journey to Remember
The trek was not only a test of endurance but also an enriching experience of teamwork and perseverance. Ishtiyaq Sahab played a key role in motivating the team, while Dr. Mumtaz and Dr. Altaf provided guidance and support. Sajid kept spirits high with his humor, Dr. Fayaz ensured proper nutrition, and Aijaz Rather entertained everyone with jokes and photography.
