Tamim Iqbal Suffers Heart Attack During Dhaka Premier League Match, Undergoes Emergency Surgery
Srinagar 24/03/2025 (JKNN) Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League match on Monday. The 36-year-old, playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club, experienced severe chest pain shortly after the toss and left the field after the first over.
He initially went to a nearby hospital for a check-up and returned to the match, but his condition worsened, forcing him to be rushed back to the hospital. Medical tests revealed a blockage in his arteries, and doctors performed an emergency angioplasty. He is currently in intensive care and under observation.
Tamim Iqbal retired from international cricket in January 2025 after a 16-year career in which he played 70 Tests, 243 ODIs, and 78 T20Is, scoring over 15,000 runs.
