Srinagar-Kargil Road Blocked Due to Cloudburst
04/08/2024 (JKNN) A major traffic disruption has occurred on the Srinagar-Kargil road due to a cloudburst in the Kawcherwan Kangan area.
The sudden downpour has caused significant blockages, making the road impassable.
Several villages in the Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have been heavily impacted by a series of cloudbursts, resulting in widespread destruction of roads, houses, and crops.Locals have reported that the cloudbursts affected the villages of Kawcharwan, Cherwa, and Padabal, causing mudslides that have blocked the Srinagar National Highway, a vital route for the area.
Authorities are working to clear the debris and restore the road for safe travel.
In the meantime, commuters are strongly advised to avoid using the Srinagar-Kargil route until further notice.
