Sonamarg hoteliers upbeat after Govt decides to organize winter games

Ganderbal, Dec 29, KNT: In a first, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir will introduce ice skating at picturesque Sonamarg this winter.

Tourism stakeholders have expressed satisfaction and are pleased with the government plan. They hope this winter, a record number of tourists will visit the destination.

“It is a good step taken by the district administration Ganderbal. We are all upbeat and hope that it will give a boost to tourism here,” one of the hoteliers told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Hoteliers thanked the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Chief Executive Officer Sonamarg Development Authority for making this happen for the first time in Sonamarg.

An official said that Sonamarg unlike past has been accessible throughout the year. “We are trying our best to equip this tourist destination with modern facilities. It will attract more and more tourists in winter,” he said.

He hoped the winter sports festival this winter will be a source of attraction. [KNT]
